Frontline Recruitment Weymouth is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our client’s team in Weymouth.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, maintaining, and recommending quality improvement processes to ensure the company’s quality approvals are upheld. You’ll work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including approval authorities, at all levels.
Responsibilities:
- To constantly strive to increase our “right-first time” performance and eliminate failures whilst maximising efficiency.
- To be the main point of contact for assigned customer account related quality issues i.e., quality plans, audits, warranty, complaints, concessions etc.
- To develop good customer relationships by supporting the Quality Manager and Account Manager’s, with customer communications and visits.
- To produce quality and control plans as required by customers and to agree and confirm customer quality conditions for each new order and inform appropriate departments of any specific requirements.
- To attend and, where appropriate chair, project meetings including start-ups, pre-manufacturing, manufacturing, purchasing and wash ups.
- To conduct FMEA/risk assessments, internal auditing and NCR corrective actions as required.
- To conduct auditing both internally and externally to meet the yearly audit schedule forecast.
- When required, attend vendor reviews, monitor vendor performance data, approve new suppliers, and conduct supplier audits and to approve new suppliers.
- To work with the Operations team to recommend processes and process changes (i.e., sample or batch inspection, use of the comparator, special Goods Inwards inspection criteria, etc.) to ensure delivery of defect-free product to the customer.
- To manage and/or conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) when required.
- To work with the Production, Engineering and Repairs Departments to identify, investigate and produce 8D reports when required and to coordinate/verify the implementation of any corrective actions.
- To monitor repairs and warranty returns to confirm liability, identify trends and to produce agreed KPI’s and implement improvement activities, via monthly defect reviews.
- To identify possible improvements, including cost reduction and process improvements, and to lead or participate in CIT (Continuous Improvement Team) activity, ensuring all processes are documented correctly.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
- Proven experience within a Quality Management system
- Experience in Aerospace Standard AS9100 and NADCAP
- Trained auditor
- Experience of conducting root cause analysis using tools like 8D
- Experience of PCB Manufacturing environment
- Experience of liaising with Internal and External Customers
- Self-driven and able to monitor own performance effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
- Demonstrates a “Can do” positive attitude.
- Good application of Microsoft packages and relevant software for the role
Desirable:
- Has worked in an Aerospace Organisation
- Experienced in Process Management techniques.
