Frontline Recruitment are working with a leading robotics and automation business who are looking to recruit an experienced Applications Engineer to support robotic automation projects from concept through to commissioning.

This is a great opportunity for an Applications Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer who is looking to work with advanced robotic and automation systems in a technical, customer-facing role.

The successful Applications Engineer will be involved in demonstrations, application development, commissioning, fault finding and customer support across a range of automation projects.

The Role

As an Applications Engineer, you will support the development, demonstration and commissioning of robotic automation systems.

You will work closely with customers, internal engineering teams and project stakeholders to deliver tailored automation solutions across a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting robotic automation projects from concept through to commissioning
• Robot programming and integration
• Commissioning robotic and automated systems on customer sites
• Supporting customer demonstrations and proving out applications
• Fault finding and technical problem solving
• Supporting Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing
• Working with PLC systems including Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell / Allen Bradley, RSLogix and Studio 5000
• Supporting HMI systems and industrial communication protocols including Profinet and Ethernet/IP
• Providing customer-facing technical support and guidance
• Working closely with internal engineering and project teams

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with engineers from a robotics, automation, special purpose machinery, machine tool or industrial engineering background.

You may currently be working as a:

• Applications Engineer
• Robotics Engineer
• Automation Engineer
• Controls Engineer
• Commissioning Engineer
• Electrical Controls Engineer
• PLC Programmer

Experience Required

• Experience within robotics, automation or special purpose machinery
• Exposure to industrial robots such as KUKA, ABB, Fanuc or similar
• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal
• Experience with Rockwell / Allen Bradley PLCs, Studio 5000 or RSLogix
• Strong commissioning and fault-finding experience
• Good customer-facing skills
• Strong communication and problem-solving ability
• Happy to travel across the UK, with occasional international travel

Desirable Experience

• Machine tool or CNC automation experience
• Vision systems, including Cognex or Keyence
• Servo drives and motion control systems
• Safety PLCs and machine safety systems
