Job Title: Engineering Planner

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 per year

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Manufacturing Planner to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling all manufacturing operations — including machining, laser cutting/folding, fabrication, and mechanical/electrical assembly — to ensure timely and efficient production.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Production, Stores, Sales, and Engineering Design to maintain a smooth production workflow, manage material requirements, and meet delivery targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules for all manufacturing cells, tracking performance and KPIs.
  • Manage the overall manufacturing plan to align with customer forecasts and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate with the Stores Team to ensure material availability supports the production schedule.
  • Interpret production data to determine material, tooling, and labor needs.
  • Plan and optimize the sequence of operations (machining, laser cutting/folding, fabrication, and assembly).
  • Expedite delayed operations and adjust schedules as needed to handle disruptions.
  • Prepare reports outlining schedule deviations and their impact on production plans.
  • Create and issue accurate manufacturing schedules, purchase requisitions, and forecast reports.
  • Support customer service efforts by handling order enquiries and resolving production-related issues.
  • Facilitate collaboration between departments to drive efficiency and meet manufacturing goals.
  • Liaise with Sales and Stores to resolve delivery or availability challenges impacting customer orders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems (Essential)
  • Qualification in engineering/manufacturing or a related field (Essential)
  • Advanced Excel skills (Essential)
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing planning/scheduling role (Preferred)
