A Weymouth recruitment company is reporting a high level of demand for skilled employees in Dorset, after major building works in the region have created a skills shortage.

Peter Brown from Frontline Recruitment says that his firm has vacancies all over Dorset waiting to be filled.

Peter points to the south west having the highest rate of employment in the UK for the dearth of talent – but that those with transferable skills who would like to change their career prospects should get in touch.

He says: “As the economy picks up and the jobs market becomes ever more competitive, we have record numbers of vacancies waiting for skilled candidates.

“We’ve found that workers, especially in the construction industry, are now picking and choosing where they work and looking for higher pay rates and long runs of work, which means we’re having to look outside the area to find people with the right skill sets.”

“It’s been noticeable since the start of the year that less CVs are being registered online,” added Peter.

“However, many companies are willing to train people who show the right attitude and willingness to learn. With this in mind, we’d urge people looking for a change of career and who have transferrable skills to get in touch to take advantage of this high demand.”

Weymouth-based careers specialists Frontline Recruitment, which is celebrating its third anniversary, has had its best start to a year since it first opened in 2012. Profits are up by 38 per cent on 2014.

Peter added: “The figures from the first few months of the year have come about because we’re using our knowledge of the local market to actively create jobs for people – be they on a temporary or permanent basis. We look forward to hearing from jobseekers from across Dorset who want to boost their earning power.”
